Today was primarily dedicated to preparing for the compliance presentation the following week. Ben and I sat down and discussed of the various topics that should be included into the presentation. The invitation to attend the presentation s extended to high school athletic directors, high school counselors and community college counselors. The presentation was going to consist of eligibility and transfer rules and regulations pertaining to high school athletes and community college athletes. Ben and I printed out a pre-set pdf file from the NCAA website that included the information that we wanted to input. We then went through it together and weeded out the items we felt was not necessary to present. He had me thoroughly read from bylaw 14.5.4 through the end of eligibility of qualifiers who transfer.
I sat in on another meeting with Kim, Ben, Alissa, and Donna the FAR. The four discussed about the end of the year and how some students are or are not progressing and which students have dropped from the athletics program due to eligibility issues. They also discussed the issue regarding priority class registration for student athletes. Currently, Stan State is the only school in the CCAA conference who does not offer priority registration to its student athletes. This has been an ongoing battle with the academic senate over the past few years. The athletics department is set to bring the topic up during the next academic senate meeting during its open forum time.
Tonight is also the career fair. I was unable to attend but will get the results of its turnout in the morning.
