Internship location: Athletics Department

 

I will be working closely with the Associate Athletic Director,                            , the Compliance Coordinator, Ben Griffin and Athletics Acadmeic Advisor, Alissa Aragon.. I will shadow and assist in various areas of the department learning the duties of each                           member.

 

General Hours: Tuesday and Thursday 9:00am – 5:00pm. Attendance on other days will be dependent on events hosted by the program.

 

Main Duties:

  • Learn the rules and regulations regarding NCAA Division II Intercollegiate Athletics, the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and the role of the Senior Woman Administrator at Stanislaus State.

  • Assist the Athletic Academic Advisor in the Stanislaus State Academic Center for student-athlete success.

  • Shadow and learn the role of the Athletics Compliance Coordinator.

  • Attend athletics staff and coaches meetings.

  • Assist with the “Life Skills” program for student-athletes – organize career workshops and job fairs for SA’s.

  • Assist with fund-raising and special projects as needed

  • Research various athletic department’s structures/staffing among Division I, II, and III institutions.

  • Meet with Stanislaus State athletics staff to learn of their roles and responsibilities.

  • Learn the operations of intercollegiate athletics

  • Understand the compliances of the NCAA

  • Understand the academic component for student athletes

  • Have a well-rounded understanding of each role played in athletics department

  • Provide ideas and assist in the organization of projects

 

Expected Learning Outcomes

  • Collect and organize information about NCAA DII schools in the CCAA Conference

  • Gain the knowledge and ability to utiize the NCAA application website

  • Comprehend sections of the NCAA DII Manual

  • Analyze academic requirements and create academic plans

  • Create power point presentations
