The morning first started off with just catching up with Kim. At 10:00am we entered a small conference room to have a meeting with the golf coach. The people present were: Charlene (athletics assistant), Hung (assistant athletic director, sports information and marketing), Aaron (assistant athletic director, facilities and operations), Kim, and Brandon (head coach, men’s golf). The details of golf meeting went as followed:
16 teams and 6 individuals competing
Golf tournament starts at 8:00am Monday, April 12 continuing to Tuesday morning beginning at 8:00am
Hung will input scores on Golfstat on Tuesday
Water stations and fruit will be provided on the golf course at a central location, and holes 1 and
10.
After the meeting, Kim handed me a review booklet of the 2016 NCAA Division II convention. I gave a debriefing of what was talked about over the days the convention took place. She also provided me with an overview of what the agenda may be like at the 2017 convention. We then got to speaking about placing a bid to host the next soccer seasons conference tournament. Kim allowed me to look at what was required from the university to place a bid and she also had me read the thread of emails between her and the person of contact for the bid.
The bid requires:
Facilities; Key personnel; First aid/medical services; hospitality; food and beverage concessions; adequate parking; support personnel' security; tickets; media work space; photographer.
The conference provides:
Awards; Merchandise for sale; officals assignments and expenses; Promotion/public relations; Credentials; Events Program
The Univeristy must have/provide:
Evaluation of the facility; Playing surface; Attendance capacity/quality of ancillary facilities, equipment and services; game management; community engagement; revenue potential; other events.
Kim and I also further discussed the career fair that she was trying too put together that was specific for student athletes. Soon after, I spent about an our or so talking to Aaron, the Assistant Athletic Director, Sports Operations. During the hour, he navigated through 25Live, the software the university uses for scheduling. Aaron explained his job duties, which included scheduling facilities use, maintenance of facilities, and events and game day staff. There wasn't too excitement in the things that he does.
